The HealthCentral Network Adds Inflammatory Bowel Disease Site to Its Web Properties
ARLINGTON, VA - The HealthCentral Network, Inc. (www.HealthCentral.com) today announced the launch of MyIBDCentral.com, a condition-specific site that educates and informs online users about inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). MyIBDCentral.com provides reliable medical information and a community forum for patients, medical professionals and others in the IBD community.
The site is designed to help users FIND the information and resources they need, MANAGE the disease in their daily lives, and CONNECT to other IBD community members for advice and support. MyIBDCentral.com includes guides to understanding the basics of IBD as well as drug information and links to helpful web resources. The site is also focused on helping users lead healthy, productive lives with the disease and features prevention and treatment information.
IBD author and advocate Elizabeth Roberts will also be featured in weekly columns. Roberts' book, Living with IBD & IBS, was published in 2006 and recounts her personal struggle to manage both conditions. Roberts also lends her expertise to the web site www.ibsgroup.org, where she is a forum moderator and writes a blog.
"At last this issue has come out of the closet," Roberts said. "Unlike many other illnesses and diseases, talking about IBD and its associated symptoms isn't considered polite conversation. But now, with the launch of HealthCentral.com's IBD web site, fellow IBDers will have the opportunity to form a community where we can share our victories, our frustrations, and our day-to-day challenges of living with this chronic disease. I am proud to be involved with such a forward-thinking web site."
"Whether you have just been diagnosed with IBD or care for someone with the condition, connecting with people who understand what you are going through is an invaluable resource," said Chris Schroeder, CEO and President of The HealthCentral Network. "The HealthCentral Network strives to provide site users with the tools and information they need to better manage their condition. Elizabeth Roberts' expertise, patient advocacy and community involvement are fundamental to empowering those living with and affected by IBD."
