Psych Central Signs Exclusive Ad Rep Agreement with The HealthCentral Network
HAVERHILL, Mass. - Nov. 15, 2006 - Psych Central® (www.PsychCentral.com) today announced that it signed an exclusive advertising representation agreement with The HealthCentral Network (www.TheHealthCentralNetwork.com). The agreement provides advertisers enhanced marketing opportunities to reach people with mental health concerns, such as depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD and schizophrenia, as well as those with relationship, stress and workplace issues.
"I'm pleased to join The HealthCentral Network family of Web properties," said Dr. John M. Grohol, Psy.D., founder and publisher of Psych Central. "Our focus on publishing reliable, trusted mental health information online makes us a perfect complement to The HealthCentral Network."
Psych Central will broaden the reach of The HealthCentral Network's mental health web sites, which provide visitors with targeted, in-depth and trusted professionally-reviewed medical information and support from patient communities. The agreement enables Psych Central to focus on enhancing its high-quality mental health and psychology news, information, and continuing to grow one of the largest online mental health support communities.
"We've seen our reach and consumer audience grow over the past few years - a trend that I don't expect to subside anytime soon," Dr. Grohol said.
According to Manhattan Research, 116 million U.S. adults reported using the Internet for health information in 2006 - an increase of 75 million compared to five years ago. The research also indicates a pronounced increase in reliance on the Internet for healthcare information and decision support among todays empowered and engaged health consumers, many of whom are shouldering an increased responsibility for their healthcare choices.
"The HealthCentral Network is committed to providing visitors with reliable and comprehensive health information tailored to their particular needs," said Christopher M. Schroeder, President and CEO of The HealthCentral Network. "The quality content on Psych Central further expands our mental health offerings and provides an excellent vehicle for advertisers to reach a targeted audience."
Psych Central was founded in 1995 by Dr. Grohol and has been a leading force online in breaking down the stigma associated with mental health concerns in the U.S. Psych Central has an extensive news section and a thriving online community. It recently celebrated the tenth anniversary of weekly live chats with Dr. Grohol, launched a rate-and-review medication library, and continues to be a top destination for people seeking trusted, reliable psychology and mental health information online.
